Bonsai & Bonsai Supply Vendors
Below are places where you can buy bonsai, bonsai supplies, and bonsai raw material in San Diego and in the Los Angeles area. Additionally, we have included several online vendors. If you know of others, please let us know using the contact form. Phone ahead or check the vendor's website open times as many bonsai nurseries are closed certain days. Several are by appointment only as noted below. Do not forget, we have tools and supplies available for purchase at regular club meetings, and twice a year many members sell bonsai and pre-bonsai at our shows in Balboa Park. (Note: This list is not actively curated so if you have any comments or updates kindly inform the webmaster.)

A-1 Soils Hanson Aggregates potting mix components (scoria, decomposed granite, pumic, etc.) at excellent prices.
Note: You load the materials yourself. There is a minimum charge ($18 plus tax as of this writing) so bring a friend to split the cost unless you need a whole lot. Bring containers that you will be able to lift when filled, a dust mask, and possibly a small shovel. Bring sifters if you want to shift before you load as scoria and decomposed granite will contain a lot of dust. Keep in mind that sifting will take some time. Check in and pay at the office first. A hardhat is required in the yard so bring one of those too if you have it or borrow one at the office.
