Past MeetingSunday, March 10th
Room 101, Casa del Prado, Balboa Park Uyen Truong will be our guest demonstrator at our March meeting. Uyen grew up in Vietnam and now lives and works in Southern California. His passion for art began at a young age. As a child he was surrounded by the beauty of the ancient capital, inspiring his interest in fine art. After completing a BA in Fine Art at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1986, he continues researching and creating fine art including: sculpture, painting, mixed media, digital art, and installation art. His hobbies are suiseki and bonsai. He studied Bonsai with John Naka, Harry Hirao, and Tak Shimazu. A regular at suiseki and bonsai exhibitions in Southern California, he is a wonderful bonsai artist, and he demonstrates fantastic vision by drawing the bonsai that he is working on. Some sample drawings are shown below. We have two bring your own trees sessions with Uyen, one in the morning from 8:30AM to 10:30AM, and one in afternoon from 1:00AM to 3:00PM, for up to four members each. This is a great opportunity for our member to learn from bonsai master. The cost is $30 per member. |
