Sunday, April 12th
Room 101, Casa del Prado, Balboa Park
For our April program, First VP Bob Hale will present "Fertilizer: The other thing that goes in the pot." As we learned in January, bonsai containers are a man-made environment that is best with soil that has a high level of inorganic material. As such, in order to maintain the health and development of your bonsai, you need to provide a regular dose of fertilizer to the growing medium to provide nutrients for the tree. Bob will discuss various fertilizers and fertilizer feeding schemes to get the most from your bonsai. The goal is for every-one to see their options, perhaps try something different, and discover what works best. There will be a hands-on opportunity for those interested.
Bring in any trees you have concerns about as we have knowledgeable members available in the Bonsai Help area to the right of the stage in room 101.
If you would like to display part of your bonsai collection during our meetings in room 101, including those who want their bonsai to be critiqued by our in-house experts before being displayed at our spring or fall show, please see Dan Sola or Abe Far.
Reminder: Bring items for the benefit drawing and food to share with the other members.
